Working Together

August 25, 2011

Hello,

I am sure we are oh-so-happy about classes starting again (especially since waking up at 7am for class is nothing but enjoyable, right?). We have quite a semester coming forth, and as your duly elected Student Trustee I look forward to the discussions we will be having on this campus. We face unprecedented times on this campus and as a State. We face a time of economic uncertainty that the majority of us have never seen in our life times.

Our education system is facing constant cuts, and I would be remiss in serving students if did not emphasize how much this truly does hurt us. I do not think it serves us to look at our situation as a burden; nay does it help to just know of this situation and sit by idly. If there is something that I hold as a firm belief it is that we cannot wait for change to arrive; we must instead work towards progress. Hope is passive, so I ask that every student not sit and hope. I ask that every student stand up and reach past hope. We must reach past the options given to us, and work together in creating true progress.

Yes, we will face disagreements on this campus, but together as a larger campus community we can begin this rapid ascension towards the future. This can only be accomplished with students being united and willing to be more involved. Joining Associated Students committees will help, but so will coming to events, coming to a meeting (whether it be AS or Board of Trustees), reading our minutes, asking for information from us, and most importantly communicating with us. What is of true importance is our collective future. I ask you to speak to us so that we know you concerns and work with us as we forge forward for a better future.

Best,

Alexander Soto
Student Trustee

therefore it’s nice to read this blog, and I used to visit this weblog everyday.
