The deadline for Student Service Fund Applications is Monday, September 19th, 2011 at 4pm.
The Student Service Fund is provided to PCC’s departments, divisions, academic instructional programs, student and learning services, and more, to supplement the funding that they receive from PCC’s main budget. It’s purpose is to fund programs – field trips, activities, centers of learning and development, essential services and so on – that directly benefit students in some way or form during their time at PCC. Every group on campus has the opportunity to apply for funding for their project, provided they make the deadline for the first round of SSF funding – Monday, September 19th, 2011 at 4pm. All applications must be turned in to the Office of Student Affairs, timestamped by that time.
For more information on the official purpose and standards for the fund, see Pasadena Area Community College District Board Policy 4630.
Keep It On Campus
Part of the Student Service Fund is made up of the Student Activity Fee – the $10 per semester amount that goes to programs such as the Metro I-TAP. Only a portion, the rest of the fee is made up of revenues from the PCC Bookstore, Food Services, and vending machines. Every pizza sold at the Piazza and every textbook sold by the bookstore contributes directly to the Student Service Fund. This money in turn funds the trips, events, activities, and programs that PCC students have come to depend on and enjoy every academic year.
Administration of the Student Service Fund
The SSF is administered by a Board of Directors. This is a shared governance committee consisting of four ASPCC representatives, one faculty representative, a classified staff representative, and the college VPs for Administrative Services and Student Services, chaired by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Scott Thayer. This group is responsible for reviewing, discussing and deciding on funding requests.
