An ICC Reflection

February 06, 2012

Over the past month and a half I’ve watched a group of Justices and ICC reps knuckle down in meeting rooms and tread over some of the very fundamentals of the ICC. Everything from funding to service hours to the end of year banquet, the ideas have come fast and furious. This is the first major overhaul of the ICC since around the late 1990s. For more info visit the ICC Master Plan home page. And it’s been a lot of work. But I couldn’t be happier.

One of the most important thing ASPCC does is provide opportunities for student clubs. Without ASPCC, clubs wouldn’t be able to function, period. Thanks to the Student Activity Fee, the funding opportunities for clubs has gone up from a pool of $11-18K, to $120K each year. The student life value that clubs have is so terribly important. And it’s very important that the ICC functions in the best way it possibly can. So while this has been a tremendous amount of work, I’m very pleased that it’s been done. The ICC and Executive Board will hopefully be voting on the first of our substantive change packets this Friday (February 10th) and I can’t wait to see how it goes. I’m also incredibly proud of the committee that took the task head on and wasn’t afraid to touch any number of areas to get the best result.
