45 Second Scholarship

February 02, 2013

After just 45 seconds, you and three others could walk away with $450… yes, it really is as great as it sounds!

Everyone loves scholarships, and what quicker way to earn some money than quick rounds of short speeches? Three winners will take home $450, and 10 will take home $45, so come and talk for money! Don’t worry about walking away with nothing, because all students who apply will be eligible to win $10 gift certificates to the PCC Bookstore.

The first round is to describe a challenging situation in your life and how you have been able to overcome it, and the second round begs the question, what have you done, or what are you doing, to help your community. These are generic scholarship questions, so instead of spending hours writing essays, simply deliver a 45-second speech at the Creveling Lounge on Wednesday, February 13 anytime from 3-5 p.m. for the First Round, followed by the Second Round from 5-7 p.m.

Please take the time to make sure you meet all these requirements:
1. Students must have completed at least 12 units at PCC or currently be enrolled in at least 12 units. Students who combine past units and current units to reach 12 also qualify (example: 6 units in Fall 2012 and 6 units Spring 2013 qualifies).
2. Students must be currently enrolled (Spring 2013).
3. Students DO NOT need to currently be enrolled in a speech class.
4. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.0

Please send ONE email to 45spcc@gmail.com no later than 11:59 p.m. on Feb 10th with the following information:
a. Subject: Lastname, Firstname
b. Body: PCC ID, phone number, email address
c. MUST include a copy of their current PCC unofficial transcript or proof of enrollment.
(Students who fail to include this will be disqualified)
d. What general topics will the student be discussing (one sentence for each topic)

Hope to see you all there!
